Knowledge Management is a critical factor in delivering the mission of a nonprofit/voluntary sector organization. It is also a public good that is free because it has no value unless it is used. As the benefits of a new discovery or research or best practices becomes interwoven in a society, free resources become available to everyone.

Volunteer Alberta believes its primary focus is to connect networks of volunteer engaging organizations and volunteer centres with knowledge. Our sector’s ability to meet the challenges of funding, technological opportunities, changes in demographics of volunteers both good and challenging relies on our sector being able to represent itself to community decision makers as knowledgeable and focused on delivering our missions.

"In the past 8 weeks I have circled the internet globe looking for material for our Fall workshop. There are a lot of interesting sites in North America and beyond. In my opinion I have seen some content-strong sites, some very useable sites, and very few creatively designed sites. Your site has all three. From the moment I saw your Toolkit site I remember telling [a colleague], when we build our site we already know what our standard to reach is.

The site is colourful, the graphics are crisp and meaningful, the site is well laid out and easy to use, the content is rich and the writing is clear and concise.

Thank you for creating it and thank you for allowing us to use your material and point our participants to your site. We promise to throw any credit for your work your way."
