National Volunteer Week
Enhancement Funding 2010
Volunteer Week Enhancement Funding is intended to assist communities and municipalities in leveraging other sources of funding for National Volunteer Week.
Volunteer Alberta members may be eligigle for 2010 Enhancement Funding. Please review the following guidelines for the usage of the funding.
Please note that funding is available on a first come, first serve basis and is available only to paid members of Volunteer Alberta. Click here for online membership.
A special thank you to Alberta Culture and Community Spirit for allowing Volunteer Alberta the opportunity to provide funding to Alberta communities to acknowledge the powerful social investment volunteers create.

2010 Enhancement Funding Guidelines
The deadline for applications was February 8, 2010. Thank you to all communities who applied.
Important Dates
• Enhancement funding applications were due on or before:
Monday, February 8, 2010 by 4:30pm
• You will receive email notice as to the success of your application by:
Friday, February 26, 2010 by 4:30pm
• Funding cheques will be mailed to the successful applicants by:
Friday, March 5, 2010

Funding must be used during National Volunteer Week unless approved by Volunteer Alberta:
April 18 – April 24, 2010
• Final report for Volunteer Week Enhancement Funding is due on
Tuesday, May 18, 2010 (PDF version)
Details At-a-Glance
Volunteer Week Enhancement Funding is intended to assist communities in leveraging additional sources of funding for Volunteer Week celebrations.
Eligible expenses for funding include:
- Media promotion
- Trainer or speaker of your choice to enhance your celebrations
- Educational development for the community
- Volunteer recognition items
- Television, radio, or newspaper advertising and/or features which highlight Volunteer Week
- Newsletters or supplements distributed to local groups
- Posters, banners, or newsletters promoting community-wide activities
- Legacy Tribute - contact Volunteer Alberta to discuss this option
Ineligible Expenses for funding include:
- Food and Alcohol costs
- Volunteer Week coordinator position support (i.e., salary, hourly wage, bonuses, overtime)
- Travel and accomodation expenses for speakers/trainers
To apply for Volunteer Week Enhancement Funding, the organization must first be a member (paid) of Volunteer Alberta for the current calendar year.
Funding will be awarded to communities on a first-come, first-serve basis.
