Canada Volunteerism Initiative

The Canada Volunteerism Initiative (CVI) was launched in 2002 to encourage even more Canadians to volunteer. This initiative served as a legacy of the 2001 International Year of the Volunteer. Volunteer Alberta was fortunate to be selected as the host organization for the Alberta Local Network.

Funding for the CVI ended in early 2007. Currently Volunteer Alberta is connecting with the federal government to see what a potential future support system could look like. For progress updates, please contact Volunteer Alberta.

To ensure that the knowledge and networks built and developed through the CVI are not lost, Volunteer Alberta is committing to connecting Alberta’s nonprofit/voluntary sector to these resources. This website has been upgraded to incorporate the links, research, best practices, and other resources from the CVI for easy access following the closure of the federal program.
